Tile Installation to mark a 150th birthday!
When Busbridge Junior School reached its 150th anniversary back in 2018, I was contacted to help create a special artwork to celebrate the landmark birthday.
I proposed that we work with Watts Gallery to acknowledge our town's rich Arts and Craft heritage and also reference Godalming's famous gardener, Gertrude Jekyll who is buried just over the road from the school.
We based the theme on nature and set about to create a terracotta tile with each pupil, staff member currently in the school.
I hand installed the results on the wall opposite the main office in April 2020 during the lockdown, it was a very enjoyable project and the final piece looks fantastic.
